เป็นประเพณีที่สำคัญประเพณีหนึ่งชาวจีนที่มีมาแต่โบราณนับร้อย ๆ ปี วันไหว้พระจันทร์จะตรงกับวันที่ 15 เดือน 8 ของจีน การไหว้พระจันทร์เป็นการไหว้เพื่อรำลึกถึงองค์ไท้อิมเนี้ย เทพผู้ให้ความสุขสงบสรรพสิ่งในโลก และถือว่าเป็นเทพที่มีพระสิริโฉมงดงามที่สุดองค์หนึ่ง ซึ่งจะเสด็จมาโปรดสัตว์โลกในคืนพระจันทร์เต็มดวงของเดือน 8 ของสักการะจึงมักเป็นขนมไหว้พระจันทร์ ผลไม้เพื่อขอให้เกิดความเป็นสิริมงคลแก่ตนและครอบครัว

The Chinese Mooncake Festival is another significant festival for Chinese for over hundred yeas. It is on the 15 of the eighth moonth in the Chinese calendar. To worship the moon is believed to pay respect to Thai Im Nia Deity, the Goddess offering peace to all creatures in the earth and the most beaufiful deity. The deity's presence to the earth is believed to take place on the full moon of the eighth month.
